Karangasem, October 31, 2025 — The increasingly unpredictable climate, coupled with the declining balance of nature due to human activities, has triggered various natural disasters in several regions. One of them is flooding, which has begun to occur in areas that were previously unaffected.
In Antiga Village, Karangasem, for instance, floods over the past few months have caused water to inundate residents’ homes for long periods, even after the rain stops. This condition has disrupted daily activities, and some residents have lost their homes due to the flooding. Although the local government has made efforts to address the issue, support from various parties is still urgently needed to ease the burden of the affected communities.
As a form of social concern, the Bali Villa Rental Management Association (BVRMA) initiated the “Fun Ride & Donation” program — a charity movement that involved members and partners in directly distributing aid. Assistance was provided in the form of food packages and cash donations to residents affected by the flood in Antiga Village.
This activity aimed not only to provide material aid but also to uplift the spirits of the victims, encouraging them to remain strong and optimistic in facing adversity. Additionally, the initiative is hoped to inspire other communities and organizations to extend compassion and support to those in need.
The social action took place on Friday, October 31, 2025, starting at 10:00 a.m. WITA until completion, with Antiga Village, Karangasem as the main destination.
BVRMA expressed its appreciation and gratitude to all parties who participated and donated, especially BVRMA members, the Canggu Hospitality Association, and Short Term Rental Asia, for their support and collaboration.
The Head of Antiga Village, I Wayan Madra Arsana, S.E., shared details about the flooding that has affected his area, particularly in Banjar Labuan, where 15 families are still experiencing water inundation. Meanwhile, the Tengading and Telaga Indah areas, which are known to be flood-prone, are facing the worst conditions in the past decade.
“This year’s flood is the most severe. Even after 25 days, the water has not completely receded, and 99 families have been affected,” he stated.
Madra Arsana explained that the village had previously carried out several mitigation efforts, such as installing diversion channels around the Betel River. However, these measures have not been fully effective as the river continues to overflow.
“We’ve already carried out river normalization, but we’re facing financial constraints. Our village is located between two mountains, so when heavy rain falls, the Betel River is prone to overflow,” he added.
Furthermore, he expressed hope that the assistance provided to Antiga Village would not only be for emergency relief but also for sustainable development support.
“I hope our village can receive help not only during floods but also for development purposes so that our people won’t develop a beggar’s mindset,” he said. He also conveyed his gratitude to several political figures, including Ni Luh Djelantik, Mr. Partha, and members of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), for listening to and addressing the residents’ concerns.
As a long-term preventive measure, he hopes for support in the form of gabion stones to strengthen the riverbanks and prevent future flooding.
“We hope that the Chairman of BVRMA and his team will continue to be blessed and become role models so that other media and associations are inspired to conduct similar initiatives,” he concluded.
May this activity serve as a small step that creates a meaningful impact for those in need and foster a lasting spirit of generosity in every opportunity.
